Job Description


Leidos Australia is looking for mid to senior level, talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our team based in multiple locations in Melbourne as we continue to scale up and grow the business in our expanding target markets. You will be able to hit the ground running working with our talented multi-disciplinary software team delivering and enhancing complex and high-value software including mission critical systems, bringing them to the next level while ensuring the highest level of availability, performance and security.

As a talented member of our agile development teams, you will rapidly grow and progress with us as a Software Engineer in a multidisciplinary environment across a diverse and influential Federal Government and Defence portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity on developing an unique solution on managing program portfolios including resourcing. The Portfolio Application Lifecycle Management utility is a portfolio management tool, set of Jira plugins designed as a tailorable, configurable "single pane of glass" dashboard integrated directly into Jira to provide leadership level visibility, program transparency, and proactive decision-making capabilities. There is a potential of Web app development replacing these set of Jira plugins. Along with this, you will be working on industry leading solutions termed as ‘Software Factory’. Using AWS at core Software Factory Leidos has accomplished delivering rapid prototypes and trials of competing enterprise class container technology stacks to inform design decisions in extremely tight timeframe.

Working in an agile development team, you will:

  • Collaborate with our leadership team across divisions and discuss their requirements.
  • Design, Develop and Test JIRA plugins
  • Determining the structure and design of JIRA Plugins
  • Ensuring user experience determines design choices
  • Developing features to enhance the user experience
  • Building reusable code for future use
  • Optimizing JIRA Plugins for maximum speed and scalability
  • Collaborate and innovate with our talented cross-functional and cross-domain teams on compelling software solutions, constantly refining our approach and methods
  • Ensure solutions are compliant with all necessary cybersecurity, regulatory and governance controls.
  • Contribute to architecture and design processes to ensure new services and solutions meet stakeholder requirements and expectations.
  • Contribute to the management and building of DevOps/Agile process and tools
  • Conduct system integration, testing and release/deployment
  • Coordinate agile life cycle activities and ensure progress is being made with objectives
  • Document design and engineering work

Engage effectively with the Systems Engineering team, management, and other teams across the Technical Systems areas.


Qualifications


About you and what you will bring in

You have a Bachelor degree in engineering, computer science, information technology or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience and specialised training. You will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop enduring and trusting relationships with both the vast talent in Leidos and a broad range of customers.

You will also have:

  • Proficiency in ReactJS, NodeJS, Typescript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Proficiency in JAVA
  • Experience in Rest API development
  • Understanding of server-side CSS
  • Experience in Amazon Web Services as infrastructure
  • Exposure to Infrastructure As Code technologies such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Experience in JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience in containerisation using Docker, Kubernetes
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of agile development environment
  • Good understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) as infrastructure
  • Experience in RHEL and Windows
  • Demonstrated ability to produce consistently good results in a complex environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and upskill on advance engineering knowledge, cutting edge technologies
  • Willingness to document and improve software development processes.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain and hold a NV-1 security clearance.
